Lost Odyssey Medly

"Really good"

submission: Lost Odyssey Medly
date: January 11, 2009

When I started listening, Final Fantasy immediately popped into my head. Then I read that Nobuo Uematsu did the soundtrack, and was like "ah..". :) He's my idol. So, I really like this. The violin is beautiful. I wish I had an xbox 360, this sounds like it would be a very emotional game. Might have to buy the soundtrack now :o

Heart of the Winter

"Fantastic quality"

date: December 28, 2008

Really well-organized and emotional piece. A wide range of emotions here with great transitions. Plus I love the great variety of instruments.

Movie-quality score.

Epic String Quintet

"ahh"

date: December 25, 2008

Yeah, I agree with Rwinius on this one. The violin should have flowed more rather than cutting off so quickly. I really wanted to like it, but it got a bit repetitive hearing the same bass parts and a melody that kept cutting short. And weird ending. But I just love this kind of music and these instruments.. so *cough*

String Quartet

"Hm.. yeah"

submission: String Quartet
date: December 25, 2008

Pretty much in total agreement with emocidalqueer. I'm a fan of string quartets.. so I might be a bit biased. I liked it a bit more. Though, I am definitely not a fan of the ending either :P Totally changed the mood.. and yeah it just sounded weird to end like that. The rest was cool, though.

Choral Cue

"Nice"

submission: Choral Cue
date: December 25, 2008

Works very well as a mood-setter, or just something to play in the background of a movie/game/whatever, as it's a bit slow and boring to me on its own. But it's a choir, so you can't really go crazy with that, huh? :P

Sorrow Strings

"Hm."

Harmonies were good at first, but then you had a couple bad ones which made me cringe. Also, super short.

Pizzicato Boredom

"Ehh.."

submission: Pizzicato Boredom
date: December 25, 2008

Liked it at first, but then it got pretty repetitive and um.. just empty sounding. There was too much silence, and not much going on. There were a maximum of two instruments playing at the same time, and half the time only one instrument. Doing this doesn't allow many possibilities.

Solus- Last March

"oooh :D"

submission: Solus- Last March
date: December 23, 2008

I like this a lot. The parts where the strings come in remind me of some of Joe Hisaishi's work (composer for Hayao Miyazaki films (Spirited Away, Princess Mononoke)), especially a track from spirited away. And the melody at around 1:06 reminds me of FFX. :P Yeah, everything reminds me of something. But that's a good thing. I really really like this :o

Author's Response:

Wow, being compared to Joe Hisaishi is flattering. I've always liked his stuff.

Dark Magic

"Sounded great at first..."

submission: Dark Magic
date: December 22, 2008

But then.. what happened? It's like the melody is in a different time signature than the piano. :\ And it felt very choppy, like you were kind of just throwing in some random notes for the melody. It didn't work very well at all. I like the instrument quality, though...
